Fedora works pretty well on mine, although under Linux the fans have a mind of their own.  Mine kick in like a chainsaw, and keep running well past the time the chips have cooled down.  It's like having a Weed Eater on your lap, but like you, I sort of consider mine a friend and won't disparage it too much.&lt;br /&gt;

Anyway, I was actually commenting to say that when I send mine to an Authorized HP dealer, they always let me run the integrated diagnostic on the hard drive, and then remove it myself if I don't want to send it in.  Maybe you should look into that next time...</description>
