As on flickr, I say #2 as well.

What is most shocking here is not you want a tattoo, but that TV is a major driving reason... for a guy who is so into books he doesn't have cable.

Didn't Ahab learn Moby was his father at the end? I liked the story, but the prequels have ruined it for me.

I really enjoyed this fish tale. The whole time I was waiting to find out where on your body you would get the tattoo. Where?

I enjoy both designs. I slightly prefer the first one because I find there is more symmetry between the detached jaw and tail in it. I find the second may be too connecting if that makes sense. More so I agree that the tail does not have the same presence as the rest of the design.

Being from Vancouver Island, your mention of whales made me think of the beautiful whale art of the Haida people. I searched for some images and found these two:

But there are so many other beautiful variations.

I'll go with and hold your hand while you get it done ;-).

Seriously, when I got mine done I went with a buddy. Funny story. He had a tattoo done not long before and had joined the Marines. Then he went AWOL. He knew I was going in to get a tatoo and asked to come with and then asked me to take him to the courthouse afterwards so he could turn himself in. He hung out while I had the work done. His "last hours as a free man" he would say.

I need to get mine touched up.

I like the top fish and would like to see the tail a bit more shredded to match the front too. Any way to work a pi symbol into the tail?

I like the second fish. And I love the glimpse into the way your mind's been working on this. I say go for the ink. I have yet to regret mine. Maybe I will in twenty years, but I doubt it (I did try to put it in a place where it wouldn't sag or otherwise distort).

I want a lizard. I like your design of the fish. Perhaps I could get you to design a lizard for me in your ample spare time. ;P
