Mom may end up replying also because unless I think about mentioning that I have written before I leave and after she wakes, she won't know I have. Can't tell you how sorry we are that you found a defect in the foundation. Obviously this is a serious flaw and would impact resell at a later date as well as opening you up to further structural issues as time passes. As a comment, the only way I would even consider buying is if I could get a warrantied repair from a foundation expert - these issues can be dealt with, but they need an engineer. Even if you have it repaired, the evidence of a problem would remain and would probably be an issue in future sale even with a proper repair. Again, we know this is extremely disappointing - we hurt with and for you.

On the weekend cleaning - I would be seriously glad to help some. If you are serious about the windows, I can bring my squeegee stuff and we can get them cleaned at a rate of about 1 minute per pane per side. I'll also bring some carpet spotters, but don't expect too much success here after the carpet has been extracted. Regarding the purple stuff, can you call the plumber and find out what it is? That would help me in trying to figure out what might take it up.

Also, if I can find the room, would you like me to bring an Oreck vacuum and loan it to you? I think I have a couple of extras at the office and it might solve your temporary vacuum problem. They are handy and effective and the high brush speed has a combing effect on the carpet that is nice.

If the crack is more than just cosmetic, we're not interested even with a repair. We'll be disappointed, but we'll find something else that we will be able to sell some day if we want to do so.

The window stuff might be a good idea. Our main problem is the outside of windows where there are rain spots. It's hard to wash the outsides of windows. Daryl has a call in to the plumber about the purple product. I'm just glad it's only a little around the toilet he was working on and a little in the kitchen, where he wasn't doing anything. With that sort of record, he could have dripped it all over the carpet in between.

We've stolen Abbey and Andy's vacuum, but they will eventually want it back. I was actually just thinking that Lennie and I should run over to their apartment with it today, let ourselves in while they are off to work and school, and do a surprise vaccuming to extend their vacuum hospitality. If you guys really have one that isn't being used, by all means, toss it in the trunk. Otherwise, I'll just plan on vacumming their apartment every week until our house sells. I doubt they'll mind the maid service, and what's another 1000 square feet of vacuuming per week at this point? I'm already doing that every day here. I'll even toss in bed-making if they get antsy. ;)
